The difference between necessary and unnecessary...

repairs must sometimes be transcended for the sake of sanity. Well, not so much sanity as having a really cool home theater system wired through the walls, and that's just what the little box now has! Gone are the days of speakers being knocked off the TV bench by something being placed on the surface, of cables being run over by casters being generally in tangles. And all it took was about an hour of Rob being under the house with a drill, a hammer, a tape measure, chisels, and a pair of safety glasses which he should have kept on. The process of drilling up through the sub-floor plus the bottom plate of the wall was daunting and difficult, but the result is three wall-mounted speakers, a big step forward towards Rob's dream of 'IMAX' sound. Only two more to go.

Rest assured, not everything that has been getting done has been frivolous. Today we discovered that neither of the smoke detectors were functional. Rob has completed hanging one new unit and is patching the wall in order to hang the second. Fun times!
