...which is why we didn't manage to post. Amidst a flurry of last minute cleaning and packing in Rob's apartment, the closing happened yesterday around noon. I say "around noon" because our closer appeared to have a slightly flexible relationship with time, much to the dismay of the woman whose office we were using and our realtor. The closing went so much longer than our realtor expected that he had to leave for another appointment in the middle of it but I think everyone left with a much better understanding of all of the things that go into this purchase.
After a late lunch, the work began. At this point, the fridge is in and Rob's apartment is cleaned out and moved into the house, though not remotely organized as we finished slightly later than we expected. And, by "slightly later," I mean we were getting the last few things into the house at about 12:30 last night.
The plan for today is to get furniture and things out of storage while Rob's at work, followed by appliances and a trip to Home Depot to discuss a few things with one of their kitchen designers since it seems there are more things wrong with the cabinets than we thought.
Plus for the day, on top of closing and all: We found the lids to the toilet tanks stashed ever so usefully in the bathroom vanities. And the water and electricity are on, though we're not sure about the hot water heater yet.
